What is the Pan Mass Challenge?

The Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC) is a 186-mile bike-a-thon from Boston to the end of Cape Cod. 100% of the money raised through the PMC goes to cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund.

Sarah & Joey have both registered for the 2024 ride and will be riding with Team FLAMES. This team is made up of doctors, nurses, researchers, and even current cancer patients! Every year FLAMES rides for a "pedal partner". This year's pedal partner is Zoey, age 7, who is currently being treated for T-ALL (a leukemia) at the Jimmy Fund Clinic.

Meet the Team

Sarah & Joey are family friends; both grew up in the same neighborhood and graduated from East Lyme High School (2009 / 2011). Joe currently resides in Old Saybrook with his wife, Emily. Sarah lives in East Lyme and will soon graduate from Nurse Anesthesia School and move to Boston.

Dana-Farber Cancer Institute has close meaning for my family. They managed my Mom's cancer treatment for triple negative breast cancer. She has now been in remission since 2015. As of February 2024 they are also helping manage my Dad's pancreatic cancer battle! Being able to raise money for the Cancer Institute that has given so much to my family and countless others is an opportunity I couldn't pass up.

This August, I am participating in the Pan Mass Challenge in support of Dana-Farber's efforts to beat cancer. I will bike ~160 miles over 2 days from Wellesley (just outside of Boston) to Provincetown Massachusetts, and have set a goal of raising $6,000 in the next few months leading up to the ride.
